Trademark or copyright for a logo?
- A trademark stops others using a similar mark on similar goods. This is what marketplaces and customs enforce
- A copyright protects the artwork itself from being copied, which helps against packaging clones
- If your designer created it, the copyright is theirs until assigned. We draft the NOC
- A logo composite mark is the usual fallback when the plain word is already crowded

Logo trademark registration online — fees, process and documents
Logo registration with Invorn is fully online: you send the logo on WhatsApp, our trademark expert runs a free check, and the logo trademark application is e-filed the same day. Below is what people usually ask about logo registration fees and the process.
Logo registration fees
The professional fee for logo trademark registration starts at ₹949 (plus 18% GST). The government fee is separate: ₹4,500 per class for individuals, startups and micro/small enterprises, ₹9,000 for others. You get the full logo trademark cost in writing before you pay.
How to trademark a logo
1) WhatsApp the logo (JPG/PNG). 2) Free similarity check and the right class. 3) Approve the draft and pay. 4) Same-day e-filing and your application number. From that day you can use ™ on the logo.
Register your logo: trademark or copyright?
Trademark logo registration gives you the exclusive right to use the logo as a brand (10 years, renewable). Logo copyright protects the artwork from being copied. For most businesses, trademark the logo first; copyright is optional.
Documents for logo registration
A clear image of the logo (JPG/PNG), applicant name and address, a list of goods or services, the signed Form TM-48 (we draft it), and an NOC from the designer if someone else created the logo.
Logo registration online works from any city in India — Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Jaipur or anywhere else. No office visit is needed; the whole process runs on WhatsApp.
Questions
Is ₹949 really the lowest price?
Yes, as far as published prices go. Our fee to file is ₹949 + GST. The lowest entry fees published by the big online providers are ₹1,499 (Vakilsearch, now Zolvit), ₹1,899 + GST (IndiaFilings, plus a ₹1,200 first-time onboarding fee) and ₹1,999 (LegalWiz). The government fee is the same everywhere; it goes to the Registry, not to us.
Is registering the logo enough?
No. A device mark protects that artwork. If someone uses your name in plain text, a wordmark is what stops them. Most businesses need the wordmark first.
What if I change the logo later?
A cosmetic refresh is usually fine. A substantially different logo needs a fresh filing. Another reason the wordmark is the more durable asset.
Do I own the logo my designer made?
Only if the copyright was assigned to you in writing. Without it, the designer holds rights in the artwork. We draft a short assignment or NOC.
Not sure what to file?
Send the artwork and the name. We will tell you which of the two protects you better, and whether both is worth it.
Invorn Services (OPC) Private Limited is a trademark filing and consultancy service. We are not a law firm and do not guarantee registration. That decision rests with the Trade Marks Registry.
